Hey there! Welcome to my passion project – K0D4 Companions Cards. I’m beyond stoked that you’ve decided to join me on this wild ride. Grab a cup of your favorite brew (coffee?), get comfy, and let’s dive into it!
I’m thrilled to share with you a journey that’s been both humbling and empowering – my story of using parody trading cards as a creative outlet while fighting an autoimmune disease.
It all started when I was diagnosed with a rare from of Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA). I remember feeling like my world had been turned upside down. The pain, the fatigue, and the constant uncertainty, having to give up a lot of things that brought me joy were all too much to handle at times. But then at one point I said, “Not today” (card coming soon), and pivoted and found things I could do.
I discovered that my creative outlet – parody trading cards – would become an unlikely but incredible coping mechanism. These cards are not only super entertaining but also packed with enough sass to make my day (and yours!). They’re all about embracing our quirks and having a blast while doing so. Some are funny, some are shout outs to people and memories that I wanted to preserve.
But why did I choose parody trading cards, you ask? Well I’ve always mused on if I had the power to make cards what I would do and what I could get away with. When I was young and got introduced to a well known TCG (Trading Card Game), it really shifted things for me. While I like TCG games I’m way more into the art and text and style of the cards more than he game it’s self.
You’ll discover that each parody trading card has its own unique personality (and sometimes, a healthy dose of sass, Just not Kaisa Level). They’re meant to inspire, to bring out the best in us, and to have us all laughing together. I wanted to create a project that would not only make people smile but also serve as a reminder that life’s too short for boring stuff and focusing on the bad.
Over the course of the follow days, weeks and months I’ll be adding in a bunch more stuff, and a way for people to give me ideas that will be part of the “Community Cards”.
